Does Medicare cover Chiropractic? Yes!

You are entitled to claim up to 5 bulk billed chiropractic visits each calendar year fully paid for by Medicare, meaning that there is no cost to you at all. This is arranged by your GP through a Chronic Disease Management plan (CDM) (previously known as the Enhanced Primary Care Plan) or Team Care Arrangement (TCA).

You are eligible if you have or will be suffering from a chronic musculoskeletal condition for longer than 6 months’ duration, or have numerous health issues like asthma, diabetes, depression and/or anxiety.


The most common chronic conditions we see are:

  • Neck Pain

  • Mid Back Pain

  • Low Back Pain

  • Headaches and Migraines

  • Sciatica

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Tennis Elbow

  • Bulging and Prolapsed Discs

  • Pregnancy Related Back Pain

  • Vertigo and Dizziness

  • Sport Injuries

  • Whiplash

  • Pain from Arthritis/Degenerative Joint Disease

  • Muscle Spasm and Stiffness

  • Postural Issues – Scoliosis


If you believe you are suffering from any of the above chronic conditions, please consult your GP to see if you are eligible under the CDM plan. If you are eligible, please inform your GP that you would like to see the chiropractor at Elia Chiropractic for a total of five bulk billed visits. Please ensure your GP completes Medicare forms 721 and 723.

Once you have the forms, please call the Elia Chiropractic clinic on                            to make an appointment to commence your care plan. We ask you to please either bring in these forms with you to your chiropractic appointment or request that they are emailed to us by your GP.

Please note if you’ve already used the CDM plan this year, you’ll have to wait till next year to get a new set of 5 bulk billed chiropractic visits.
